Gold is the Peruvian sun

Gold is associated with illumination, love, compassion, courage, passion, magic, and wisdom. In pre-Columbian Perú, gold symbolized the sun. Gold represented masculinity and was associated with daylight and life.

Circulos by Pablo Patrucco

The series Circles pay homage to a wrinkled paper found on the street near his studio. Every Circle is an attempt to recreate that primal feeling of abandonment and textured solidity.

Beneath that impressive first visual layer, Pablo’s work is a commentary on life and society in Lima, depicting themes such as public transport, garbage, overcrowding, consumer products, pre-Columbian artefacts and more. An individual painting may look like a simple rendition of the subject matter, but as a series, there are clear messages on societal tends of accumulation, commercialization, trivialization and the abandonment of society

XL Chimu Hoopearrings by Carole Fraresso

Replica of earrings from the Chimú culture (1000-1470 AD), whose surprising regularity of the gold foil testifies to the great skill of the goldsmiths of ancient Peru. The closure, probably from the colonial period, marks a later repair or modification, uniquely sealing the history of pre-Columbian adornment.

Carole Fraresso founded Maison Motché in 2010 with a vision focused on the recovery and transmission of the cultural heritage present in Peruvian jewelry.

Motché jewels are handmade using recycled gold. Carole´s approach is a mix of archaeology, historical craftsmanship and modern design perpetuating the gestures of exceptional Peruvian artisans, in an ethical and responsible process.
