A gift with more meaning, and a tale of Peru.

It’s often said that travel is one of life’s greatest gifts. A voyage to a foreign place, for adventure, discovery, perspective, and enrichment. And nowhere, is that more true, than when it comes to Peru.

This festive season, we are bringing you a very different kind of gift guide, the chance to feel the sublime beauty of Peru, without leaving your home. Together with our expert curator Marcella Echavarria and Aracari Shop, we have handpicked a selection of luxury Andean gifts with origins from across Peru.

From the majestic Andes to the raw Pacific Ocean stretching the length of the western coast, from the steaming humidity of the Amazon Rainforest to the sprawling metropolis of Lima. Peru’s diverse geography is unique, and from it, springs a multitude of cultures and traditions.

Nuanced across each region, these traditions permeate the cultural identities of the country, brought to life in magnificent artistry. Across millennia Peruvian civilizations have moulded and melted, gilded and spun, weaved and sculpted, creating unique art and design found nowhere else on Earth. And, thankfully for us, never is this truer than in Peruvian art and design today.

The Gift of Peruvian Provenance

Handmade by award-winning Peruvian artists and designers, these exquisite pieces span the length and breadth of this magnificent country, and distil

the essence of travel to Peru into something tangible. So, sit back, relax and enjoy a journey through Peru from the comfort of your armchair...

From the mountains

A rich history of textile weaving exists in the mountainous regions of Peru. Aracari Shop is proud to feature some of the artists who are preserving those traditions in their work, from the textile artistry of Kristie Arias inspired by the ever-changing mists and clouds of the Andes, to the tapestries of Timoteo Ccarita, to the stunning embroidered furniture of Agustina

From the coast and the desert

Long before the Incas ruled Peru, other sophisticated civilizations built advanced infrastructure and artistic legacies across the country. One of those, the Moche culture, prospered from around AD 1 to 700, and dominated several valleys on Peru’s northern coast, leaving an especially vivid creative legacy. Today, the craftsmanship of the Moche people lives on, inspiring the work of Carole Fraresso, who founded her brand Motché in 2010 with a vision focused on the recovery and transmission of the cultural heritage present in Peruvian jewelry. A handpicked selection of Motché pieces are available to purchase from Aracari Shop right now, alongside the work of Vicky Lynch, whose Catacaos hats have brought the tradition and heritage of Peru’s pacific shores to life in effortlessly chic headwear.

From the city: Lima and Cusco

Lima and Cusco are two of Peru's must-see destinations, both bustling cities with their own unique character formed over centuries. It's no surprise then that from these cities has sprung some of Peru's most pioneering modern artistry, from the paintings of Pablo Patrucco whose work is a commentary on life and society in Lima, to two award-winning Peruvian photographers - Billy Hare and Adriana Peralta. Aracari Shop is proud to have an exclusive curation featuring work from each of these incredible artists available to purchase right now.
